Ringwood Woman’s Club Membership Event rescheduled

The GFWC Woman’s Club of Ringwood will be rescheduling the Membership Event to Nov. 1 at 8 p.m. in the Community Rooms of the Ringwood Public Library at 30 Cannici Drive in Ringwood.
The event is a membership drive to attract women to join the Ringwood Woman’s Club. The Ringwood Woman’s Club will host Girl’s Night Out with Francine Evans and Joel Zelnik.
The couple will perform "The Lady Sings the Rat Pack."
This is a free event and light refreshments will be served. However, reservations are required because of limited seating. Interested parties can call Tina Spears at 973-556-5652 to make a reservation.

First Vice President Tina Spears of the Ringwood Woman’s Club invites women from Ringwood and the surrounding area to the club’s Membership Event on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 8 p.m. in the Community Rooms of the Ringwood Library, 30 Cannici Drive.

The Ringwood Woman’s Club will host Girl’s Night Out with Francine Evans and Joel Zelnik. The couple will perform "The Lady Sings the Rat Pack," where they recreate memories of Judy, Marilyn, Shirley, Liza, Sammy, Dean, and Frank. This is a free event, and light refreshments will be served. However, reservations are required because of limited seating. Interested parties can call Tina Spears at 973-556-5652 to make a reservation.
"We’re hoping to attract new members to our club," said Spears. "This will be a fun event where we’ll have the opportunity to let the women around town know what we’re about.
"During these tough economic times, when extra money is tight, a free night of entertainment may be just what we need," she added.
The Ringwood Woman’s Club, part of the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs, the largest volunteer women’s service organization in the state and a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, provides opportunities for education, leadership training, and community service through participation in local clubs.
It enables members to make a difference in the lives of others, one project at a time.

The Ringwood Woman’s Club announced its annual fund-raiser to benefit scholarship recipients, Northern NJ Gilda’s Club, and various community organizations.
The annual gift auction, brunch and comedy show will be held on Sunday, April 10. This year’s theme, "A Salute to America," will feature comedian Robin Fox, winner of the 2010 Annual Gilda’s Club Laugh-Off.
Fox, the self-proclaimed "Mother" of all comedians, is a regular on the comedy club circuit of New York City and surrounding areas. The event will be held at the Sheraton Mahwah Hotel starting at noon. Tickets cost $35 per person and can be reserved by calling 973-839-0332.

Ringwood, New Jersey Woman’s Club Still Going Strong!

While membership seems to be declining in other Women’s Clubs, the Ringwood Woman’s Club, seem to be doing okay. It helps that for the past twenty plus years their most successful fundraiser has raised more money than any other. On Sunday, April 11, 2010 @ 12pm the Ringwood Woman’s Club will have their 2010 Fashion Show, Brunch and Gift Auction at the Mahwah Sheraton, the theme will be Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
The Woman’s Club may have had more members in the 1950’s/60’s but, that doesn’t mean they are not relevant today. In the beginning, these clubs were social clubs for women but, as times changed so did their focus. These women are just as passionate about serving their community as the Red Hat Society is about having fun. Having fun and serving your community isn’t exclusive. You can do both.
The Ringwood Woman’s Club also has the ability to finish what they start. For example, in 1979 just four years after their inception, they donated money to the building fund for a new library. And every year they raise funds for the library while still funding other projects. The new library opened its doors in 2000. The Ringwood Public Library is home base for the Ringwood Woman’s Club. They still continue to meet the needs of the Library’s wish list.
They also award 3 scholarships a year, sponsor a high school junior girl to attend Girl’s Career Institute for a week and a sophomore to attend the Hugh O’Brien Youth Program. Their projects are relevant and needed in the community, from donations to the local fire departments to flowers in a barrel.

NJDC offers words of thanks for support
Although the struggling economy has impacted many of our local businesses, social organizations, and families, the North Jersey Developmental Center (NJDC) would like to say thank you to our kind-hearted friends for taking the time to remember our family of clients this past holiday season:

President Josephine Law of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) of Ringwood is inviting all local women to join in the club’s Membership Tea on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Ringwood Library.

Women's Club meeting

President Josephine Law of the GFWC Woman’s Club of Ringwood invites all local women to join in the club’s first meeting of the season, to be held on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. in the community room of the Ringwood Public Library. The library’s address is 30 Cannici Drive. The opening program will feature a pot luck supper.
"The meeting is open to all local women who are looking to form new friendships and to find a special niche or pet project of interest to them," said Linda Endy, membership chair. "This is relatively easy in our club, given the wide variety of departments and special interest groups."
Plans for the club’s spring annual fund-raiser, Fashion Show, Brunch and Gift Auction, are currently being made. This event, which is open to the public, will be held on Sunday, April 11, 2010. It will be held at the Mahwah Sheraton at noon. The fund-raiser’s 2010 theme is "Breakfast at Tiffany’s." Proceeds will benefit the club’s scholarship program, an ongoing venture since the club was first formed in 1975.
